We borrowed Ana Rosenberg’s definition of marketing because it is one of the most useful ones for expert businesses.

“Marketing is the crystal clear communication of the value of your contribution that attracts your best clients”

Ana Rosenberg

If marketing is communication, it is a question of refining our communication skills. And to do so we have resorted to a Master Communicator: our shopaholic friend.

Watch this scene where Becky goes to a support group to deal with her shopping addiction to see if you can spot the strategy she uses to engage strangers and make them feel bonded to her and move them into action. (Hint: it has to do with the language she uses).

Becky uses sensory language for her introduction. She engages the senses by using images, tastes, smells, noises, textures. She doesn’t stop with visuals.

Next Step – Think how you can incorporate sensory language in your marketing to engage your audience and move them into action.
